Banana, Raspberry & Chocolate Milkshake

choccy milkshake

What kid large or small doesn’t love a chocolate milkshake?

This recipe provides 2 of their 5-a-day, plus milk and all sorts of goodies in the Chia seeds.  I’ve gone for milled Chia, which they shouldn’t be able to tell is there. Milkshakes and smoothies can provide more than just one portion of fruit and veg a day, unlike juice as the whole of the fruit, fibre and all is used.

I decorated the glass by dipping it into the melted chocolate and then swirling it in hundreds and thousands for a bit of fun.

100g milk chocolate

3 tablespoons hot chocolate powder (I use Twinnings)

500ml milk

2 tablespoons milled chia seeds

150g raspberries (fresh or frozen)

2 ripe bananas

3 scoops chocolate icecream

  1. Melt the chocolate gently in a bowl over just simmering water, then remove from the heat.
  2. Stir in the hot chocolate powder and milk and whisk until smooth.
  3. Pour into the jug of a blender along with the remaining ingredients and blitz until smooth.
