My 1st Ready Steady Cook challenge

When I first started on this Coronial Cooking thing, I half jokingly put out there into the ether the idea of me running a Ready Steady Cook Challenge. So last night, a very old friend sent me this on Facebook and challenged me to come up with something for him to eat as he’d run out of supplies! He was quite literally dropped on his head as a baby so I was sympathetic!

Ignoring the toilet roll tube and bubblegum (told him that was pudding) my first thoughts were a grilled raclette style dish.

I didn’t have any of the ingredients other than garam masala so I don’t know how it would turn out but here’s my response:

Well with that little lot – slice the potatoes (no need to peel) – brush with some melted butter and bake in the oven at 200c for ten minutes then spread with the meat paste, sprinkle over a little of the garam masala and put a thin slice of the cheese on top and return to the oven for another ten minutes.

Whilst that is cooking, melt some butter in a pan, add the strawberry jam, a little water, some onion if you have it, a little more garam masala and some black pepper and stir through over a low heat to make a salsa to go with your spuds!

If anyone out there does have a go at making this, please, please, please share! And if you could come up with something else, please share that too!
